SIDEWALK CHALK ART SHOW will be held Monday, June 9, from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at the West Park Branch, Cleveland Public Library, Lorain Avenue, for children of all ages. 2008 PHOTO SAFARI competition for amateur photographers includes contestant age categories Adult (12 and over) and Junior (ages 2 to 11). Photos must be taken at the Cleveland Zoo from May 26 through September 1, 2008. Each contestant may enter up to three photos in the following categories: Bird; Human; Mammal; Plant or Insect; and Reptile, Amphibian, or Fish. ST. PROCOP Church in the City Vacation Bible School welcomes all children ages 5-10. It will be held July 7- 11, 2008 from 9:30 a.m. – noon at St. Procop Parish, 3181 West 41st Street. CAMP CONNECT offered at Hattie Larlham has three summer sessions integrating children with and without disabilities in a safe and educational environment for ages 4-14. Camp Connect also has summer camp sessions specifically designed for children with autism spectrum disorder, plus a Teen Connect Autism Camp. Cost of each 11-day session is $75-$100. CMSD 8TH GRADE (OVERAGE) SUMMER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT PROGRAM RUNS BETWEEN June 9 and July 18, from 8 a.m. to noon focusing on project-based learning in math, science, literacy and social studies, as well as a multi-media immersion project with Tri-C Metro Campus.

CURFEW
CLEVELAND EVENING CURFEW is set by city ordinance according to age. Evening curfew for youth 12 or younger is darkness. Curfew for ages 13-16 is 11 p.m. Curfew for 17-yr-olds is midnight. After these hours youth cannot be “upon streets, sidewalks, in a park or any public place unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian or a responsible adult selected by the parent or legal guardian to supervise the child.”

SPRAY BASINS, like giant water sprinklers, are located at Fairview Park, W.38th and Franklin; Mercedes Cotner, W.95th and Maywood; and Trent, W.40th and Trent. Sprinklers are turned on when temperature reaches 80s or warmer, 11 a.m. –6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and between noon and 7:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

ORIENTAL MARTIAL ARTS program at the Hispanic UMADAOP Youth Center, 3115 Scranton Road, uses Traditional Karate as the vehicle by which we empower individuals, especially at risk children, to know they can be successful in whatever they wish to do. $20 registration covers first month, $10 / month thereafter. JUNIOR GOLF SUPER CLINIC: Cleveland Metroparks is offering a free one-day golf Super Clinic for ages 6 to 17, on Friday, June 13 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Washington Golf Learning Center, 3841 Washington Park Blvd. in the Metroparks Washington Reservation, Newburgh Hts. The hands-on clinic focuses on basic fundamentals and is appropriate for brand-new beginners through intermediate skill players. Equipment is available to use, but participants with equipment should bring it along. Registration is required; call 216-641-1864.
METROPARKS SUMMER JUNIOR GOLF CAMP IS a 5-day camp for ages 8 to 17 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Washington Golf Learning Center, 3841 Washington Park Blvd. in the Metroparks Washington Reservation, Newburgh Hts. Cost is $175 per week; campers provide their own packed lunches. Extended care available for campers arriving at 8 a.m. or staying until 5 p.m. for additional $25 fee. Weekly camps run between June 23 and August 8. Week July 7-11 camp is for girls only; other camps are for boys and girls. Registration required; call 216-641-1864.
MOUNTAIN BIKE TRAIL is now available at the Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation Canalway Center, the only trail in Cleveland Metroparks where mountain biking is permitted. There is both a half-mile beginner loop for basic mountain biking skills and a over-2 mile intermediate loop, a challenging trail for the experienced rider. Trail is one direction, with directional arrows; helmet required; no off-trail riding.
TOUCH AMAZING RAYS & SHARKS summer exhibit returns this year to the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo through September, allowing visitors to fee the smooth skin of small sharks and stingrays. Cost is an additional $1 with regular Zoo admission, free for children under 2 and Zoo members.
BIKE ABOARD! trains of the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad (CVSR) this summer allows cyclists to bike the Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail in one direction and ride the train in the other at special $2 rate for bicyclists, Wednesday through Sunday this summer.
