City of Cleveland Charter Review Commission seeks citizen input
(Plain Press, July 2008) The fifteen member Charter Review Commission appointed by Cleveland City Council to review the city’s codes and procedures meets every Thursday at 8:30 a.m. in Room 220 of Cleveland City Hall. The Commission is charged with making recommendations to council on proposed changes to the charter. The recommendations are due on August 1st, 2008. Recommendations approved by City Council will appear on the November 4th ballot.
One of the topics of discussion before the charter review commission is whether or not to reduce the size of Cleveland City Council. Other concerns brought up include civil service rules, electing city council members every two years instead of the current four years, and how to involve more people in the charter review process.
Citizens can send comments or suggestions to: webmaster@clevelandcitycouncil.org or to Attn: Charter Review, Cleveland City Council, 601 Lakeside Avenue, Room 220, Cleveland, OH 44114.
