Efforts underway to increase Cleveland’s chicken population

(Plain Press, July 2008) Several efforts are underway to increase the number of chickens in Cleveland.

Gather ´round Farm on Lorain Avenue, just east of Bodnar-Mahoney Funeral Home on Lorain Avenue, was granted a variance to have a chicken coop at the garden at a June meeting of the Board of Zoning Appeals.

An advocacy group called the Food Policy Coalition is working to change city small livestock code to make it easier for people to raise chickens and bees in Cleveland. The group made a presentation of their proposal to the Cleveland Planning Coalition on June 20th.
